Jaya Suraya is all about journalism. Being the only one who works on The Screech Owl doesn't really bother Jaya. She enjoys the amount of control it gives her and the fact that this way, all the feedback falls on her and gives her the opportunity to improve and grow as a journalist. Her loyalties lie only with her readers as she feels that they are the ones who depend on her to get the all important news and stories! She idolizes Ritah Skeeter and her ability to find the truth, no matter how unpopular it makes her.

In-Depth History
Born to Jayin and Jayani Suraya, Jaya had a very charmed life, despite the fact that her parents wanted a boy. She is an only child since both her parents are high-powered wizarding lawyers, they only had time for one child, regardless of its gender. That being said, they barely had any time for her and she was raised by the house staff, including several house-elves. The staff is her more her family than her parents and Jaya is mostly okay with it. Her best friend is a house-elf named Boby. He was her first reader and most devoted reader. Her love of journalism was inspired by having Boby read her all sorts of things while growing up.
